Cheap Flight To Vienna

Austria's capital,Vienna, is one of Europe's greatest cities. Once the capital of the vast Austro-Hungarian Empire, the city retains memories of its past glories as an imperial seat of power through its stunning architecture and vast palaces. This is also a city of culture, and was home to some of the geniuses of classical music, including Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss and Schubert along with the renowned painter, Gustav Klimt. The city responded to their presence by building great concert halls and galleries, which are still a joy to experience today.

There has been a human settlement in the area around Vienna for many thousands of years. Indeed, the famous Venus of Willendorf artifact was found here and is 24,000 years old. The present city was founded as Vindobona around 100 AD and went on to be the imperial seat of the Habsburg dynasty, first as the capital of the Holy Roman Empire and later as the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until 1918. This history has greatly influenced the feel of the city to the present day, with the Viennese being famously polite (even formal) and the city having a cosmopolitan air.

The city has something to reward every visitor. The great concert halls, galleries and museums hold events all year round, while Vienna's famous ball season in January and February has the city in a carnival mood. Stephansdom is the city's impressive cathedral and the Kunsthistorisches and Albertina Museums hold impressive collections and frequent exhibitions. The Viennese also have a curious fascination with death and the central cemetery at Zentralfriedhof is a popular walking area. Remember, too, that the whole of the city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site, so do make time for a walk and also enjoy the city's famous coffee culture (Kaffeehauskultur)in one of the many cafes. Secure your ticket now to enjoy this great cultural city.
