Located just to the east of Tortola, one of the British Virgin Island's largest Isles, lies the charming and beautiful Beef Island. The event spans three days and is held in honour of the fishermen's past and present. The beautiful isle of Beef Island is famed for its coral reef and water sports meaning that a swathe of enthusiasts flood the island each year. The beaches are also renowned as some of the most beautiful of the group of Islands and the warm, temperate climate entices sun lovers.
Long Bay Beach spans both sides of the Beef Island Bridge. This beach is never crowded and the clear, blue waters are always calm and ideal for swimming. The beaches are flanked by the most stunning scenery and when the weather is scorching, bathers can shade beneath the trees.

In addition to snorkelling in the coral reef, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing and kitesurfing are also popular pastimes. All these activities are available on the majority of beaches for a small fee.
Head to Sage Mountain National Park. Open from dawn to dusk, this area of outstanding natural beauty is mostly covered by rainforest and is the natural habitat of many species of exotic birds. There are more than ten different trails throughout the park and each trail is rated in terms of its level of difficulty.
Calendar Of Events
Offering a host of festivals and events throughout the year, it is customary for the residents of Beef Island to organise festivals around a full moon. From jazz festivals to honouring the local fishermen, the island's celebrations are broad and diverse.
The Fishermans Festival. The Fishermans Festival is hosted in June and the event spans three days. Anglers from around the island compete and showcase their skills. The event is also marked with live music and family-friendly activities.
The Cultural Fiesta. The Cultural Fiesta is held in August over a two week period. The event marks the 1834 Emancipation Act when slavery was abolished. Great food, competitions, live music and a donkey race entertains festival goers.
Music Fest. The Music Fest is held in July and features an eclectic mix of artists from every musical genre. Workshops, live performances and great food epitomise the week-long event.
