Cheap Flights To Perm
Sitting bestride the banks of the mighty River Kama and nestling at the foot of the Ural Mountains is the historic city of Perm. Once a tiny village, the city grew under the development of Peter the Great to become one of the most important industrial and trading hubs in Russia. An important port on the river, modern-day Perm is a bustling, lively city with an important cultural legacy and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Known across Russia for the richness of its cultural life and the quality of its architecture, it's a city full of interest, which is increasingly garnering global attention for its international events and festivals. Any visit here is guaranteed to provoke and interest the traveller: it's a place unlike any other.
Things To Do
Perm is full of diverting attractions, with many concert halls, museums and theatres. Its architectural mix is also widely admired with buildings and monuments reflecting every period of its history. After a hard day's sight-seeing, take the opportunity to sample the local cuisine in one of the many excellent restaurants serving regional and Russian food -- it'll be unlike anything you've tasted before.
There's much to do here for the aesthetically and intellectually inclined. Watch world-class dancers and singers at the famous Opera and Ballet House. Stimulate your mind at one of the many museums and galleries, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art or the State Art Gallery. With attractions devoted to every art and discipline from ballet to pre-historical studies, there's something to fascinate everyone.
One of the great pleasures here is simply taking in the sights. There are a couple of pre-planned walking routes, the Green and the Red lines, designed to show the best of the city and its history. Look for the many examples of public sculpture and landmarks, from the playful Permyak sculpture to the neoclassical Rotunda, or get close to nature in the beautiful Chernyayevsky Forest.
The city's well-stocked with wonderful restaurants. Try Grill Taverna Montenegro for local kebabs or Expedicia for game and fish. Locals rate Pelmennaya Number 2 for that most Russian of foods: stuffed dumplings.
