Discover whisky, Scotland's national drink

The city has much to offer when it comes to its famous drink. Visit one of the city's whisky bars which contain some of the finest collections. The Pot Still is a suburb little pub with vast amounts of malt whisky and knowledgeable staff. The Bon Accord ale house & malt whisky bar is another of the most respected pubs in Scotland with over 380 different types of whiskies for customers to sample. Visit one of the distilleries to learn all about the distillation process for the Scots' most beloved tipple. The Auchentoshan Distillery was founded in 1823 and is Scotland's only distillery to practice triple distillation which makes it well worth a visit. The Glengoyne Distillery is only 15 miles from the centre in an undeniably beautiful location. You can reach it by bus from the city centre, which will take you about an hour. If you would prefer something a little closer to the city center, visit the Kilpatrick Distillery which is only 10 miles away.

Glasgow, a shopper's paradise

With over 1500 stores, Glasgow is the 2nd largest retail centre in the UK, outside of London's West End. The Style Mile, situated in the city centre, has a huge concentration of over 200 shops, including popular high street chains, designer boutiques, independent stores, and one off-speciality shops. If you would like something a little more traditional, tartans and tweeds can be bought at MacGregor & MacDuff. It is a city bursting with creativity and visitors can take home reminders from places like, The Glasgow School of Art Shop, The lighthouse shop or Timorous Beasties. The city has a plethora of award wining salons, which makes it ideal for those in need of a little pampering. L'Oreal Colour Trophy winner, Alan Edwards can be found on Wilson Street and James Dun's House Aveda Lifestyle Salon and Spa is located on Hanover Street.

Adventure in the city

For visitors who are looking for a taste of adventure, they can try rock climbing at the Glasgow climbing centre, an indoor venue that is suitable for climbers of all ages and levels. The Ski and Snowboard Centre in Bellahouston Park has 4 dry ski slopes for winter sport enthusiasts or visit Pinkstone is Scotland's only artificial white water rapid course and try something new. Exciting mountain bike trails can be found in the Mountain Bike Circuit in Pollok Country Park. There is certainly no shortage of thrilling sports to participate in.
