Events in Glasgow
Over the years, the city has played host to many world class events. There are around 130 music events each week throughout the city in pubs, clubs and music venues. In 1990, it was named European City of Culture and this catapulted it into a city of cultural prominence. It was also named UNESCO City of Music. It is safe to say that the city is blazing a cultural trail around the world.
Musicians from around the globe gather to celebrate Celtic music. Various events like concerts, talks, ceilidhs, art exhibitions, and workshops take place throughout the city.
Glasgow Film Festival
This famed festival has a vast mix of contemporary world cinema, classic films, art house, short films, pop up cinema and cult classic movies. Events include interviews with guest film makers, workshops and discussion panels. The festival takes place in various venues around the city.
West End Festival
This festival is one of the city's most popular cultural events. There are more than 400 events including classical concerts, jazz, folk and rock music, theatre performances, work shops, dances, talks, guided walks and local galas. The festival takes place in around 80 venues throughout the West End. Over 100 groups, artists and organisations come together to deliver a mix of projects and activities.
