Heritage Village is situated close by to the Corniche and is a very beautiful castle-style historic building with historic Islamic artefacts on display. One of the most beautiful historic landmarks in the area, Tarout Castle showcases traditional Saudi architectural design as well as heritage and is the ideal place to learn about Tarout Island's 5000-year history.
For some serious fun, spend a day at King Fahad Park, the area's most popular amusement park. This well-maintained theme park is located between the Dammam highway and Dhahran and is regarded as the largest and most successful theme park in the Eastern Province. The attractions here include larger adult-friendly rides and smaller, tamer rides for children too. There's also a variety of artificial lakes and waterfalls, as well as eight bridges to make it easy to navigate the park.

The city's rich heritage makes it the ideal venue for a number of annual events and festivals, including cultural celebrations and contemporary events.
East Coast Festival: Each year between July and August the city hosts the East Coast Festival, a celebration of the traditional way of life throughout history in the Eastern Region. Here visitors can learn about how the region's cultural identity was formed and learn about its heritage through fun activities and events.
MASA Talents Day: Each year the city hosts a celebratory day designed to provide youngsters with the opportunity to exhibit their talents, including acting and singing, gain exposure and start promising careers in the entertainment industry.
Saudi Film Festival: Although public cinemas are banned in conservative Saudi Arabia, cinema and film making is a growing interest of many of its inhabitants. Private screenings are permitted under strict supervision, which has permitted the country to run this innovative film festival for several years running now.
